One of my favorite (and one of the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest. I can buy foods for 50-60% of the regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time. Just stock up to really save money on your grocery bill.

April is a great month to really save money! We are starting to see some awesome deals on fruits and veggies this month. After a long winter, some fresh foods are here. Check out the top things to stock up on in April to really save.

Seasonal Produce

Spring is here and we can see it with the fruits and vegetables. This month we will see sales on apples, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, green beans, lima beans, oranges, pears, pineapple, and tangerines. My family loves fresh pineapple this time of year. Usually, I can find it for around $.79-$.99. When I do I really stock up. We like to make dried pineapple chips with pineapple.

Easter Clearance

Easter is on April 1st this year, so mid-April to the end of April should have some great Easter clearance. You can get Easter decorations and supplies for low prices and save them back for next year. If you like to buy your kids toys for their Easter baskets now is a fantastic time to buy. I often find hams on clearance after Easter and freeze them for later use.

Cleaning Supplies

Spring always means spring cleaning and cleaning sales. I love the deals I can get on cleaning supplies this time of year. I can often get cleaning supplies for free or cheap from the drugstore. It’s a fantastic time to stock up for all year long. If you find a deal buy a couple more than you normally would so it will last you for most of the year.

Baking Products

April is a good time to replenish the baking supplies. We will see deals on flour, sugar, and other baking products. When you are at the store buy a couple extra bags of flour or sugar. Stock up to save money now, we probably won’t see another baking products sale until November.

Gardening supplies

With Spring comes gardening, so look for some deals on garden supplies and seeds. If you love to garden now is a good time to grab some deals. There are also good deals on lawn and garden fertilizers and weed sprays.

Earth Day Deals

Earth day is in April so we will see freebies and good deals on light bulbs, reusable bags, and reusable bottles. Stores often have giveaways with free bags and other supplies so be on the lookout for these great freebies.
