One of the easiest ways to save more money is by stocking up on food and items when the prices are at their lowest. You can save over 50% off of items just based off of what time of year you buy them. Fruit & Veggies have their own seasons and are way cheaper when they are in season. By purchasing at the right time you can save your family $100’s of dollars per year.
I can't believe August is just around the corner. August is the beginning of school for us, plus a two-week break from swimming. My kiddo is headed off to high school this year so that will be very interesting!
I love stocking up on the good deals that we find in August. There are so many good deals on school supplies and stuff for school lunches. I try to buy enough school supplies to last the whole year, plus office supplies that we need around the house. There are so many ways to save in August.
School Supplies
Check the fliers each week for the best office and school supply deals. You can often find school and office supplies for as low as a penny. I can buy my kiddo's school supplies and office supplies for myself for so cheap!
Furniture and Bedding
With kids heading off to college we will see some great deals on dorm furniture and bedding. This is a great opportunity to get some furniture and bedding for a low price. If you are thinking of redoing a kids room now is the time to do it.
Picnic Items
Near the end of August, we will see good deals on hot dogs, ketchup, mustard, chips, and drinks. All sorts of sales for Labor Day parties and grill outs. Stock up so you have enough to last you until next summer when the sales are back again.
Frozen Foods
Grocery stores will have great deals on frozen foods in August. They often have deals on frozen pancakes and waffles, uncrustables, and other easy frozen meals. If you see a good deal on something your family loves, stock up on it. I like to grab some easy breakfast foods that we can use when we are in a hurry.
Produce
Just because the kids are headed back to school doesn't mean summer is over. We still have tons of in-season produce. You can easily freeze or preserve some of the produce to enjoy all year long. Corn, cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are all in season right now.
Saving money doesn’t always have to take a lot of time. Just by stocking up on a few extras when they are at their lowest can save you $100’s. What are your top 5 things to buy in August?
