When I first started couponing I was amazed at how much money I could save. My grocery bill quickly dropped by almost $100 a week. I was also amazed at how much time couponing took. It almost felt like I took on a part-time job! I enjoyed the time on websites looking for deals and the time in the stores shopping. But, the time clipping the coupons drove me crazy!
Every Sunday I would grab 3-4 copies of the newspaper and spend part of my day clipping coupons. It was so boring and took up so much time. It wasn't uncommon for me to spend 2-3 hours clipping coupons. Our dining room table was constantly covered in coupons. Then, every month I needed to go through my binder and throw out the coupons that I didn't use. I decided there had to be a better way. Over the years I have switched up how I coupon. I have found a way that works for me. I save money at the store without spending too much time. These easy coupon hacks will help you save time and money.
Use Digital Coupons
I love using digital coupons. They are so easy to "clip" and can save me time and money. Most of the stores I shop at like Kroger or Meijer offer online coupons that I clip. They are usually for the same value as the coupons in the paper so I can skip getting the paper and save the time of clipping the coupons.
The digital coupons are especially helpful if I decide to buy something at the store that I wasn't planning on buying. Sometimes I find a good deal at the store so I can quickly check my phone to see if there is a digital coupon for that item.
Use Rebates
I have a few apps on my phone that offer rebates if I buy certain products. They are all very simple and quick to use. Most of them you can just scan the receipt and once you get to $5 cash out. I love all of these rebates because they often offer money back on fruits and vegetables which are harder to find coupons for. You can see all my favorite apps here.
Only Clip What You Need
This is the biggest way I save time clipping coupons. Instead of 2-3 hours a week clipping coupons, I spend about 10 minutes. I use a large accordion binder to store all of my coupon inserts in. Each week gets a slot in the binder.
Each week I make a list of all the best deals at the stores and write down the insert that each coupon is located in. Then, I go through my binder and clip the coupons that I need for that week. Every 3-4 months I go through the binder and throw out old inserts that are expired.
Occasionally I get to the store and find a deal that I don't have a coupon for, but it really only happens once a month or so. I think losing out on a deal is completely worth it for all the time I do save.
Join Store Programs
I love all the store programs there are. So many of them offer additional store coupons that are easy to use. Meijer offers $10 off groceries when you have filled 5 prescriptions. They also offer personalized rewards for things like $7 off $35 produce. Usually, the rewards can be earned over 3-4 weeks so you don't have to buy everything in one trip.
CVS offers extra care bucks and store coupons that can be used with manufacturers coupons. Kroger often has a coupon on Friday's for a free product. I recommend checking to see if the store that you shop at has a store program. It's a great way to get extra coupons without spending a lot of time.
You don't have to spend all day clipping coupons. Save yourself money each week at the stores without spending hours clipping coupons. What easy coupon hacks do you recommend?

"Only Clip What You Need" - I'm so guilty of not doing that! I'm not a huge coupon clipper, but whenever they come in the mail I hold on to a ton "just in case I may need them." I don't. Ever. I wish all coupons would go digital. I love logging into my Kroger account, clicking away, and not having to carry a handful of paper around that inevitably gets lost at the bottom of my purse. (SO not organized with coupons!) 🙂

Plus, you never have to remember the digital coupons. I hate when you find the coupon in the bottom of your purse AFTER you check out. 🙂
