Summer is here in Indiana and I am loving all this great weather. We have the windows open and the smells of summer coming in. We also have been eating all sorts of summer foods. Strawberries, watermelon, corn on the cob, and my favorite easy dinner BLT's. Although I love the smells of freshly cooked bacon, the next day it isn't so great smelling.
The windows being open help, but it isn't enough to get rid of that day old, greasy bacon smell. So to help with the smell I made up a batch of room refresher. It's kind of like a Febreze, only without all the nasty chemicals. Plus, it is way cheaper to make than a can of Febreze. This lemon and lavender room refresher will instantly make your house smell better and has a great smell that lasts too.
To make the lemon and lavender room refresher you will need a spray bottle, rubbing alcohol, lemon essential oil, and lavender essential oils. In the spray bottle mix 2 cups water with 2 oz. rubbing alcohol. Then add 10 drops lavender essential oil and 15 drops lemon essential oil.
Screw on the top and shake well. Make sure you have the spray bottle set to mist. Spray into the room to add a fresh smell. The lemon smell comes out right away and the lavender seems to linger leaving a fresh smell in the room for hours. You can also try other essential oil fragrances if you want to mix it up a little. This also works well in the car too!
In just a few minutes time you can make an easy and fantastic smelling room refresher that will make your home smell great. If you don't already have essential oils check out how to buy affordable essential oils here.
