Buying while items are in season doesn’t take a lot of time. Just stock up on foods when they are at their lowest, so you can have them all year. Check out the best things to buy in August to really help stretch you budget.
Seasonal Produce
There will be lots of produce on sale in August. Now is a great time to stock up and freeze that produce. I love buying in season produce and being able to enjoy it all year-long.
We will see good deals on corn, cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
Foods
With so many kids headed back to school lunch items will be really cheap this month. We will see lots of deals on frozen pancakes and waffles, pudding cups, and lunch meat. Peanut Butter, Jam and Crackers will be on sale. Ziploc bags and lunch packing supplies will be cheap, too.
As we get closer to Labor Day we will see hot dogs, ketchup, mustard and other BBQ items on sale. Watch for some great end of season sales on grills, too.
Other Items
It's back to school time. We will see some fantastic deals on school supplies. Watch for those penny deals at the store. Remember to stock up on office supplies for the year, too.
With summer coming to a close we will start to see those summer clothes on clearance. You can buy one size up for next year to really save some money.
College will be starting up again too, so we will see some good deals on dorm furniture and bedding. This is a great time to get inexpensive items for a kids room.
Buying items when they are at their lowest can really help you stretch your budget without adding much time or complexity. What do you like to stock up on in August?

I live in the Deep South, so I stock up on shorts and short-sleeve clothes. They will leave the stores in the Fall, but it'll still be hot enough to wear them in January!
